AquaZ is headed by Steen Sondergaard Nissen, who leads a focused team of international and industry-minded researchers working on the aquaporin membrane development.
Before joining AquaZ in 2011, Steen was successfully managing business development activities in various positions in GEAPE (GEA Process Engineering).

Dr. Carlo Montemagno - Co-founder and CTO
The team is supported by Carlo Montemagno, Dean of Engineering, University of Cincinnati, who developed and patented the first aquaporin nano membrane prototype.
Dr. Montemagno is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nanomedicine, a recipient of the Feynman Prize for Experimental Work in Nanotechnology, and a frequent keynote/plenary speaker. After completing his undergraduate studies, he joined the United States Navy and served for ten years in several senior management positions as a civil engineering corps officer.
